Academy Award® winner Jamie Foxx is headlining Deadlocked, a major new action film for Amazon MGM Studios shooting at Docklands Studios Melbourne and across the city.

The film will create more than 855 jobs for Victorian cast and crew, including 14 Heads of Department roles, while generating 60 post-production jobs and supporting 370 Victorian businesses. The project is expected to inject more than $36 million into the Victorian economy.

“Productions of this size create work right across the screen sector, for tech crews, suppliers and specialist businesses, and the impact goes much further. They fill hotel rooms, restaurants and pubs, use local transport and buy goods and services across Melbourne,” says Docklands Studios Melbourne CEO Antony Tulloch.

“We’re looking forward to showing Jamie and the whole Deadlocked team just how good Melbourne is as a place to work, make films and spend time.”

Filming gets underway in Melbourne in October, with Deadlocked making use of multiple stages at Docklands Studios Melbourne, including the Super Stage (Stage 6) and Stage 2. Sets for the production are also being constructed in the studio’s set construction workshop, demonstrating the capacity of the studio to support large-scale productions across stages, workshops and production facilities.

The film will also be shooting in the heart of Melbourne, with the Docklands precinct and locations across the CBD and Port Melbourne standing in for New York. Large-scale action sequences will be filmed in Docklands, giving Melburnians the opportunity to see the production unfold in the city.

Foxx plays a grieving former Marine serving jury duty who is forced back into action when a high-profile trial becomes a deadly hostage situation. The cast includes Sasha Calle (The Rip) and Victorian actor Luke Hemsworth (Westworld), alongside KiKi Layne and a number of Australian cast members.

Deadlocked is the latest in a run of international productions filming at Docklands Studios Melbourne and across Victoria, following Fog City, Hotel Hotel Hotel Hotel, Empire City and Insidious: Out of the Further.

The Amazon MGM Studios production was secured for Victoria by VicScreen through the Victorian Screen Incentive and is also accessing the Federal Government’s Location Offset.
