1. Lights, Camera, Action!
We officially opened our doors in 2004 (then named Central City Studios) giving Melbourne a world-class production home just minutes from the CBD.

2. Our First Hollywood Blockbuster
We hit the ground running with early productions like Ghost Rider (2007) starring Nicolas Cage, proving that Melbourne could pull off big-budget international films.
3. Couture Meets Country
The Dressmaker (2015), starring Kate Winslet and directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse, transformed our stages into 1950s outback Australia and became one of Australia’s most beloved films of the decade.
4. House of Horror
Over the years, our stages have hosted many scare-fests, including Winchester (2018), Relic (2020), Late Night with the Devil (2023), Together (2024), and Insidious 6 (in production).
5. A Super-sized Addition to Our Lot
In 2022 we opened Stage 6, one of the largest sound stages in the southern hemisphere at 3,700 sq m (40,000 ft²), to house major projects shooting in Victoria.

6. Monkey Business
Melbourne-born director Michael Gracey returned home to film Better Man (2024), where a CGI chimpanzee played Robbie Williams inside our super stage.
7. We’re 21 Years Young (and the Best Is Yet to Come)
Since 2004, more than 40 feature films and 40 TV shows have called Docklands Studios home. With Melbourne’s top-notch crew and the latest LED virtual production technology, we’re ready for the next era of world-class screen stories.
