Docklands Studios Melbourne proudly congratulates our Board Chair, Louisa Coppel, on being awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in recognition of exceptional service to the screen industry.
Long before Docklands Studios Melbourne existed, Louisa Coppel was helping to lay the groundwork. As Victorian Film Commissioner from 1998 to 2003, she secured funding for production attraction, creating incentives to draw international film and television projects to Melbourne.
Most significantly, she helped develop the business case for a dedicated film studio in central Melbourne, securing a $40 million Victorian Government commitment for building Docklands Studios Melbourne.
Thanks to Louisa’s efforts, our facility is now the cornerstone of Victoria’s screen infrastructure, supporting thousands of jobs and serving as a home for both local and international productions.
She was also the first Australian to be appointed to the Board of the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI), the world-wide peak body for film commissions.
We’re honoured to have her leadership guiding our future.
